Lot 26 of 1032: ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON (1876-1955); an oak dining suite comprising hand adzed refectory table, 71 x 214 x 82cm and a set of eight open arm carvers, with studded leather seat pads, raised on block stretchered supports, one bearing heraldic plaque to the back, with motto 'I Show No Boast' (9). Footnote: Purportedly commissioned for the boardroom at Booths Brewery where the a member of the vendor's family was the chairman.

Description:

ROBERT 'MOUSEMAN' THOMPSON (1876-1955); an oak dining suite comprising hand adzed refectory table, 71 x 214 x 82cm and a set of eight open arm carvers, with studded leather seat pads, raised on block stretchered supports, one bearing heraldic plaque to the back, with motto 'I Show No Boast' (9). Condition Report:
Wear commensurate with age and use, including scratches, scrapes, scuffs and staining, etc to the top of the table, with some fading. The chairs have similar wear. The tops of the chairs are also faded and the leather on the chair seats is very worn, faded and stained. But overall a very pleasing set.
